The weekend where almost everything flies went by a few days ago and I almost forgot about it. I have attended two previous dates of the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Fiesta before but failed to catch the recent one.

Shooting these colorful balloons was certainly fantastic but it carries a certain price. You have to endure the mad swarm of people attending the festival, the searing midday sun and sheer boredom. Yep, boredom. For in between the morning flight of the balloons and the night glow, there was hardly anything going on.

But I managed to endure everything; the balloons were really that worth photographing. The only thing that would probably top it is if we were allowed to ride aboard it. We can shoot, but apparently unless we have a spare $150.00 $250.00 in our pocket, we can’t ride.

  1. Christian, it's $250 now. The other chance you might ride a balloon is either you're part of the chase crew, friends with the head chase crew, or a personal friend of the pilot. :)

  2. awesome this one! I went to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta on Sunday and I am rather impressed. This too, as I write now, brings sadness as more than 14 tourists were killed in a hot air balloon explosion, a tragedy in Luxor, Egypt. :(

  4. 14? That's sad, what should've been a celebration turned to tragedy :(
