There were no storm warning signals yet the downpour yesterday matched and even surpassed the rainfall dumped by Ondoy, the most destructive typhoon Metro Manila has ever encountered.

Our house got flooded, a first for so many years, and naturally most of the streets outside were impassable for motorized vehicles. The kings of the road shifted from the mighty jeepneys to the humble pedicabs who zipped tirelessly on; torrential rain, deep floods and all.
